Jonathan L. “Woof” Birkbeck, 55, of Worcester died Monday, November 17th in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home surrounded by his loving family and Tope. He leaves his best friend and companion of 31 years, Pamela A. (Provost) Birkbeck; two sons, Robert D. Birkbeck and his wife, Lauren of Oxford, William V. Birkbeck and his girlfriend, Kate Ivas of Worcester; two daughters, Heather A. Pedersen and her husband, Justin of Leicester and Leah S. Chouinard and her husband, Jason of Spencer; his mother, Alice G. (Vail) Birkbeck; two brothers, Robert M. Birkbeck and his wife, MaryBeth of Spencer and Michael V. Birkbeck of Worcester; four grandchildren, Tayla Chouinard, Brier, Fallyn and Ayla Pedersen; five nephews, Michael M. and Christopher J. Birkbeck and Nicholas P., Daniel J. and Christopher J. Brodeur; a niece, Jodi Rumplasch; many cousins and many lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his father, Donald E. Birkbeck and his sister, Nancy A. Brodeur.
He was born in Worcester. Mr. Birkbeck worked for Gulf Oil for the last two years and previously worked for CK Smith for over 15 years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. Jonathan was a classic car enthusiast. He enjoyed playing hockey and riding his motorcycle. Mr. Birkbeck was a Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins fan. He enjoyed spending time at his New Hampshire home “the Getaway” with his lifelong friends who grew up with him on the Cape.
His funeral is Saturday, November 22nd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery, Towtaid Street, Leicester. Calling hours are Friday, November 21st from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
