Mary F. (Conroy) Canning, age 80, of Norton passed surrounded by her loving family, in the comfort of her home, on Monday, November 17, 2014. She was the beloved wife of Ronald D. Canning, Sr. to whom she was wed on August 10, 1952.
Born in Boston, MA on December 29, 1933, she was a loving daughter of the late James and Katherine (Donohue) Conroy.
Mary grew up in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, was educated at Our Lady of Lourdes School, and was a 1952 graduate of Jamaica Plain High School.
A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, Mrs. Canning was a resident of Norton for the past 25 years; previously residing in Roslindale and Jamaica Plain.
Mary was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton and a former longtime parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Roslindale. She was exceptionally proud of her close family ties and will always be remembered for her gracious mannerism and scrumptious cooking skills.
In addition to her beloved husband of 62 years, she is survived by her devoted children; Ronald D. Canning, Jr. of Norton, Catherine Madani and her husband Hossein of Watertown, Paul Canning and his wife Christine of North Attleboro, Maribeth Moriarty and her husband Patrick of Norton, John Canning and his wife Tricia of Newton, and the late Patricia “Patty” Canning. She was the dear sister of James Conroy and his wife Elsie of Mashpee, and the late William Conroy and Paul Conroy. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren; April and her husband Kyle Porter, Daniel Madani, Aidan Canning, Amanda and Meaghan Moriarty, and Emma and Sadie Canning, her great grandson Jackson Porter, and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Friday November 21st at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Roxbury.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, November 20th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.
