Obituary

TAUNTON – James D. DiVincenzo, husband of Irene M. (Valley) DiVincenzo, died at Longmeadow of Taunton on Nov. 16, 2014.
He was 80 years old.
Born in Port Chester, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas and Angelina (Ferrara) DiVincenzo.
Educated in Taunton schools, he later received his teaching certificate from Framingham State College.
Jim served in the Army Reserves for several years.
He taught Industrial Maintenance Shop at Bristol Plymouth Regional High School, where he was employed from 1972 until retiring in 1996, when he continued to substitute teach until 2013.
He had owned and operated the former A-1 Lawnmower Repair many years ago.
A life member and past vice president of the Massachusetts Beach Buggy Association and a longtime member and past president of the Italian Social Club, Jim was also a longtime member and past president of the Weir Senior Citizens Club.
He enjoyed many trips with family and friends including cruises to Bermuda and the Caribbean as well as trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
In 2010, Jim fulfilled his dream of a 10 day tour of Italy.
He cherished memories of many years with family and friends on Race Point Beach camping and fishing.
Jim loved spending time with family at home and always worked to maintain a meticulously manicured home, yard and gardens.
He was always available to lend a helping hand and seasoned advice for any project or repair that needed to be completed.
In addition to his wife of fifty-nine years, Jim leaves two sons, James T. DiVincenzo and his wife Darlene of Taunton and Richard DiVincenzo and his wife Cheryl of Raynham; a daughter, Paula Frost and her husband Lawrence of Taunton; five grandchildren, Nicole Gregory, Gene, Adam and Alex DiVincenzo, and Brooke Corley; two great grandchildren, Cole James Gregory and Madelyn DiVincenzo; and several cousins.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, Nov. 19th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Nov. 18th from 4 to 8 p.m.
