NATICK: Fransisca Beatrix Smith, aged eighty six of Framingham and formerly a long time resident of Natick, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the Carlyle House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Framingham.
Fransisca was born and raised in Indonesia, where she also received her education. She was the daughter of the late Cornelis Croes and Kang (Nah Nio) Croes. Fransisca was especially skilled in sewing which she turned to for employment in her early years. She and the late Joseph B. Smith together with their children immigrated to America and settled in Natick. Fransisca was often found cooking Indonesian food, for which she developed quite a skill and found much pleasure in. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and her joy in playing a good practical joke. She was a very kind lady who found a great deal of pleasure in helping others. She often found time to knit, which she mastered with great skill. She also found much pleasure traveling to various parts of the world.
She is survived by her children: Roy E.J. Smith and his wife Jose of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Reggie H. Smith and his wife Mary Elizabeth of Tenafly, New Jersey, and Linda Hanna-Casey and her husband Bill of Hopkinton, Massachusetts. Fransisca is also survived by her grandchildren: Ingrid, Jeffrey, Michelle, Alex and his wife Hilary, Taylor and his wife Carissa, Allison, Taija, Jikado, and William as well as one great grandson Eli David. She was also the sister of Mark Croes of the Netherlands, Hetty Remo of Jakarta, Indonesia and Susan Jourdin of the Netherlands.
Visiting hours will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street At Natick Common on Wednesday, Nov. 19th between the hours of 9 AM and 11 AM. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM in the Funeral Home and burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
