Boston – Augusto “Gus” M. Cordeiro, age 72 of New Bedford, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was the loving husband of 44 years to Teresa M. (Bravo) Cordeiro and the son of Mariana S. (Silveira) and Manuel A. Cordeiro.
Gus was born in Ponta Delgada, Azores, moved to this country in 1952 and worked as a Materials Handler for AFC Fittings until his retirement. He was a very artistic man and a gifted fado singer and vocalist. But most of all, Mr. Cordeiro enjoyed being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa, of New Bedford; 2 children: Mariana A. Cordeiro and her fiancé, Frankie Nicholson, and Michael A. Cordeiro and his finacée, Briann Amaral, all of New Bedford; 2 grandsons: Evan Michael Cordeiro and Chayce Michael Cordeiro.
He was predeceased by his brother, Eliot Cordeiro.
His funeral will be Monday in the funeral home with visitation from 7:45 - 9:00 A.M. and continuing with a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception at 10:00 A.M. Cremation will follow. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, Ma.
