Ruth M. McCarthy
of Tewksbury
TEWKSBURY: Ruth M. (Morse) McCarthy, age 85, a resident of Tewksbury for over 55 years, passed away at her son's home, with her family by her side, on Saturday, November 8, 2014.
She was the beloved wife of former Tewksbury Assistant Building Inspector, John J. "Chuck" McCarthy, who passed away on November 4, 1995.
Born in Woburn on September 9, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Albert Morse and the late Mary A. (Dacey) Morse.
Ruth was raised in Woburn, attended Woburn schools and graduated from Woburn High School.
Prior to retiring, she worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Muro Pharmaceutical Company of Tewksbury for over 20 years.
She enjoyed family gatherings, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by three children, John J. McCarthy, Jr. of Lowell, Timothy J. McCarthy of Tewksbury, and Maureen A. Trovato and her husband John of Salem, NH; her former daughter-in-law, Tracy M. (Sheehan) McCarthy; nine grandchildren, John, Kevin, Colleen, Michael, Tim, and Jesse McCarthy, and Jacob, John and Shannon Trovato; eight great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was the mother of the late Robert J. McCarthy and sister of the late George Morse, Irene Cail and Helen Cushing.
Calling hours are Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. William's Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
