John M. Blash Sr., 56, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center. He leaves 6 children- Matthew Surrette and fiance Alisa Payne of Hudson, John M. Blash Jr. of Worcester, Angelique Blash of Millbury, Allen Sorensen, Chyenne Sorensen and Skye Sorenson all of Worcester; A grandson Braiden Michael Blash; 2 brothers- Alvin and his wife Marylou Blash of Worcester and Edward Blash of Maine; 4 sisters- Dorothy Loader of Marlborough, Beverly Clark and husband David of South Carolina, Carol Servideo and her husband Darryl of Worcester, and Joanne Lehr of Michigan; 16 nieces and nephews as well as several great nieces and great nephews. He also leaves his former wife Gail Campaniello of Shrewsbury and his significant other Kim Sorensen and her son Eric of Worcester. He was predeceased by a brother Michael Blash.
John was born in Worcester son of the late Hazel (Parker) Blash and Edward Blash, Sr. He graduated from North High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a Steam Engineer at WPI for many years. He was a "Jack of all trades" who enjoyed carpentry, swimming, bike riding, cooking, and taking walks. Most of all he loved to laugh. He will be missed.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln Street Worcester, MA 01605. A funeral service will be held during calling hours between 7:30-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Massachusetts Veterans Shelter, 69 Grove Street, Worcester MA 01605.
