Obituary

GOFFSTOWN, NH: Marie A. (Vienneau) Sletterink, formerly of Newton, NH, 100 years old, died peacefully Wednesday, October 29, 2014 in the Hillsborough County Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Mathys Sletterink who died in 1991. She was also predeceased by her former husbands, James Herbert Hampson and Ernest O. Huard.
Born in Waltham, MA on August 20, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Alma (Daigneault) Vienneau. She has resided in Newton, NH for fifty-five years before moving to Manchester, NH in 2000. Even though Marie was away from Newton, her daughter, Janet and son, Jim would bring her back for Mass and Silver Top meetings
Marie was active in the Newton Grange, Newton Historical Society, as well as the Silver Tops. She enjoyed reading to the first graders at Newton Memorial School and was instrumental in the building of Packer Meadows, a senior housing development, where she lived for twenty years. Along with her late husband, Ernest they helped establishing the Mary Mother of the Church, now St. Luke the Evangelist Parish.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet M. (Huard) Woitkowski and her husband, William of Manchester, NH and Florence V. Huard of Carlisle, PA; two sons, James E. Hampson of Hooksett, NH and Richard P. Hampson and his wife, Susan of Saratoga Springs, NY; two daughters-in-law, Michele (Huard) Mousseau of Austin, TX and Cynthia Huard of Candia, NH; a sister, Marjorie (Vienneau) Vezeau and her husband, Louis of Waltham, MA and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandson. She is also survived by three nephews and a niece of Waltham and several cousins living in Massachusetts. In addition to her parents and late husband, she is also predeceased by her two sons, David C. Huard and Francis E. Huard, a sister, Alma Vienneau, a brother, Ernest Vienneau as well as many cousins and dear friends.
Everyone looked forward to Marie’s Fudge. There was none like it. Marie led a full life, traveling, the beach and setting up blood clinics for the seniors. Marie’s family would like to say a great big thank you to the staff of Unit C3 for the care that was given her during her stay at Hillsborough County Nursing Home.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday in Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish - Mary, Mother of the Church, 12 Amesbury Rd., Newton, NH at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Hillsborough County Nursing Home, Activities Dept., 400 Mast Rd., Goffstown, NH 03045. Interment will be held in the Willow Grove Cemetery, Newton.
