John D. Hayes, age 60, of Brockton, died peacefully on the evening of October 30, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Kathleen M. (Nixon) Hayes. John was born and raised in Brockton, son of the late Walter E. and A. Rose (DiNunno) Hayes. He was a graduate of Brockton High School and had been a longtime employee of F.W. Webb Company until his illness. John and Kathleen resided in Melbourne, FL for ten years before returning to Brockton. Time spent with Kathleen and their dogs, Amos and Andy and Jack and Buddy, gave him the most enjoyment in his life. He was a man with a great sense of humor; he always had a nickname of everyone. John also enjoyed golf, gardening and travel.
In addition to his wife Kathleen, John is survived by a brother Michael F. Hayes of Bridgewater; two sisters Mary DeMulis and her husband Robert and Helen Farrar and her husband Thomas all of Brockton; and many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Monday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Tuesday at 9:30am for a funeral Mass in Christ the King Church at 10:30am.
