Obituary

A. Rose (DiNunno) Hayes, age 89, of Brockton died peacefully on the morning of October 30, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Walter E. Hayes. Rose was born and raised in Brockton, a daughter of the late Donato and Francesca (Minerva) DiNunno and remained a lifelong resident of the city. She was a 1943 graduate of Brockton High School and a 1944 graduate of Williams Business School.
Rose had worked at Youngquist Pharmacy for many years. She was also a bookkeeper for DiNunno Plumbing and a notary public. A lifelong parishioner of St. Colman Church, Rose was a member of the Ladies Sodality. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, ceramics and baking.
Rose is survived by her children, Michael F. Hayes of Bridgewater, Kathleen Hayes, Mary DeMulis and her husband Robert and Helen Farrar and her husband Thomas all of Brockton; eight grandchildren Chrystyna, Stephanie, Danielle, Ashley, Brittany, Tommy, Michael, Jr. and Riley; two great grandchildren Angellyna and Sylvena; a sister Ann Smith and brother Angelo DiNunno both of West Bridgewater, and many nieces and nephews. Rose was the mother of the late John D. Hayes of Brockton and sister of the late Sabina, Sabino, Joseph and Paul “Cha” DiNunno.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Monday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Tuesday at 9:30am for a funeral Mass in Christ the King Church at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers please consider donations in Rose’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
