Obituary

NATICK: Irene A. Verna (nee Cash), 77, of Natick, courageously battled Parkinson’s Disease for over 20 years and peacefully passed away on October 31, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Natick. Irene was born in Dorchester, the daughter of the late Peter D. and Mary Josephine Cash. Irene is survived by her husband, Joseph of 54 years and her four children: Michelle Stewardson (Donald) of Milford, Maureen Verna (Roger Kendrew) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Chris Verna (Barbie) of Natick, and Lisa Flood (Dan) of Valley City, OH. Irene’s eleven grandchildren have given her 31 years of memories: Billy, Kyle, Scott, Tyler, Sophia, Francesca, Kayleigh, Cameron, Dominic, Danny, and Lindsey. Irene is survived by her only sister, Joan Recchia of Leominster, and her brother-in-law, Gene Verna (Barbara). Irene’s brother-in-law, Joseph Recchia and sister-in-law, Mary Bomboy preceded her in death. Irene has been blessed to have a wonderful extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Over the years, Irene cherished her time watching her children and grandchildren grow and enjoy life. Irene formed lifetime friendships through the Natick Comets Youth Hockey and Skating Club of Natick programs; she valued her involvement at The Charles River Country Club.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, November 3rd, at the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, at Natick Common. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 4th, in St. Linus Church, 119 Hartford Street, Natick, at 10:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018. The family would also like to give a special thanks to the MetroWest Hospice nurses for their service and support.
