Obituary

Yvonne J. DeVits, 85, passed away peacefully on October 30th, 2014 after a lenghty illness.

Yvonne was born in Ninove, Belgium on November 22, 1928 to her parents Elizabeth(Popeliers) and Jozef DeWolf. She came to the U.S. with her husband in 1955 and settled in Malden. She worked for Schrafft's in Charlestown for many years. After her husband's untimely death she worked and retired from Whitehead Institute in Cambridge.

First and foremost Yvonne was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a skilled seamstress and created many treasures through her talents for sewing and crocheting.

Yvonne was the beloved wife of the late Leon DeVits. She was the loving mother of Daisy L. DeVits-Cuda and her husband Felice of Everett and Dorothy M. Hutchings and her husband Wayne of Methuen; adoring grandmother to Charles Hutchings, Crystal Sette and her husband Daniel, Monica Perdomenico and her husband, Anthony, Marco and Carlo Cuda; a special great grandmother to Josephine, Nico, and Madison. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Simone DeVleeschouwver and her husband Petrus of Ninove, Belgium and her precious great granddaughter, Isabella.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral from the A.J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Monday, November 3rd, at 8:00a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden at 9:00a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, November 2nd from 4-7p.m. Services will conclude with the interment in Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.
