Obituary

Belmont-----Raymond F. Prentiss, 69, of Edgewood Drive, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Manchester after a courageous battle with cancer.

Ray was born April 29, 1945 in Danvers, Mass., the son of the late John and Nora (Kiley) Prentiss. Ray was raised in Essex, Mass and attended Gloucester High School. Following school, he served in the USAF, serving in Vietnam. He was a route salesman for J.J. Nissan Foods and Frito Lay up to the time of his retirement. Ray was a proud member of the American Legion Post #49 of Tilton and the VFW Post #1670 of Laconia as well as a member of the Laconia Elks #876 of Gilford.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Lepelley) Prentiss, of Belmont; two sons, Timothy Prentiss and his wife Michelle and their boys, David and Jackson, of Hillsborough and Lance Prentiss and his wife Vicki and their children, Morgan, Alex and Jenna of Canaan; a stepson, Peter M. Rowell, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida; a stepdaughter, Amy Cilley and her husband Ralph of Belmont; three brothers, Henry Prentiss and his wife Barbara of Panama City Beach, Florida, James Prentiss and his wife Betty-Anne of Exeter, N.H. and Thomas Prentiss of Essex, Mass. and a sister, Kathy Poulsen, of Lunenburg, Mass, brothers and sisters-in-law; Debbie Prentiss from San Antonio, TX, Mildred Jameson and her husband Ronald of Tilton, John Lepelley and his wife Joey of Northfield, Harold Lepelley and his wife Carol of Redwood City, CA and Barbara Chretien and her husband Chris of Franklin, many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends, including Kathy and Larry Staples and the family pet, “Pretty Big.” In addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by his brother, Jack Prentiss, two brothers-in-law; Donald Poulsen and Bradford Lepelley and two sisters-in-law; Anne Prentiss and Vera Prescott.

There will be no calling hours.

A committal service will be held at 12:30PM on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 in the chapel of the N. H. State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, N.H.

For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the VA Medical Center, 718 Smyth Rd, Manchester, NH 03104 or to the charity of one’s choice.
