Gilford----Dorothy (Gierman) Parker, 84, of 2393 Lakeshore Road, died at the Goldenview Health Care Center, Meredith on Tuesday, October 28, 2014.
Mrs. Parker was born October 3, 1930 in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of the late Paul E. and Jenny (Hamilton) Gierman. She was a 1948 graduate of Lynn Classical High School in Lynn, MA. Mrs. Parker was a registered nurse, graduating from the Salem Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. She worked as a surgical nurse in the operating room at the Salem Hospital and worked for Dr. Robert Dutton in Wakefield, Mass. for ten years. Dorothy also worked as a private duty nurse for the VNA in Danvers, Mass for 19 years. She also participated in a Harvard Medical School Nurse Study Program for 30 years.
Mrs. Parker was a member of the Gilford Community Church. She was a member of the Ellacoya Chapter #43 - Order of the Eastern Star, a Majority member of the Rainbow Girls and a member of the Red Hat Assoc. She was also a member of the North Shore Visiting Nurses Association, the Daughters of Scotia, the Alumni Association of Salem Hospital, a member of H.O.N.S. - Shriners Hospital, the Laconia Elder Friendship Club and the Guild of St. Barnabas
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Kendall W. Parker, of
Gilford; a son, Robert H. Paker, and his wife, Cheryl, of Lowell, Mass.; a daughter, Kimberly A. Fuller and her husband, Mark, of Amesbury, Mass., eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a brother, Paul E. Gierman, Jr. and his wife Judy, of Columbus, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:30AM at the Gilford Community Church, 19 Potter Hill Road, Gilford, N.H. Rev. Michael Graham, Pastor of the Church, will officiate.
Burial will be held at a later date in the family lot in Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading, Mass.
