North Carolina – Mary D. Correira, age 102 of North Carolina, formerly of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at her son’s home in North Carolina. She was the loving wife of the late John C. Correira and the daughter of Augusta (Soares) and John B. Nobre. Mrs. Correira was born in New Bedford, lived most of her life in this area and worked as a Spooler and Warp Tender at Berkshire Hathaway until her retirement.
Mrs. Correira was a founding member of the Mt. Carmel Seniors and is now an honorary member.
She is survived by 1 son: James R. Correira of Hamlet North Carolina, 4 grandchildren: Robert Correira of Dartmouth, Michael Correira of North Carolina, Kristin Correira of New Bedford and Matthew Correira of Dartmouth as well as 9 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was the mother of the late George C. Correira.
Her funeral will be Saturday beginning in the funeral home at 7:45 A.M. and continuing with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 8:45 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will take place in the funeral home on Friday, October 31 from 5 – 7 P.M.
