Vernon D. Burtz, 70, passed away Monday, October 27, 2014 at St’s Mary & Elizabeth Hospital.
He was born in Marietta, GA to James Earl & Ola (Davis) Burtz.
He was a retired Upholsterer for Hubbuch & Co. for many years, a U.S. Army Veteran and a Baptist by faith.
Vernon was preceded in death by his Parents, a Brother and 2 Sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Mary L. (Shaw) Burtz; a Daughter, Shannon L. Havens (Nathan) and 3 Grandchildren, Abigail, Alexander and Jude;
4 Sisters: Alice Kanatzer (Roby), Billie Beam (Gary), Omie Beam and Ruth Hagans.
A “Gathering of Friends” will be held Thursday 2:00 – 8:00 PM at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., with prayers at 6:00 PM.
