Obituary

Shrewsbury, MA
Deacon Daniel Francis Crimmins, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Maynard, died on Saturday, Oct. 25th at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester. He leaves his beloved wife of 52 years, Nancy Ann (Stavola) Crimmins of Shrewsbury.
Daniel was born in Boston, son of the late John M. and Catherine M. (McCusker) Crimmins. He was raised in Boston where he attended local schools and was a 1956 graduate of Boston College High School. He later attended Boston College and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in 1960. He was a Vietnam War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army until being honorably discharged in 1966. He was employed by Safety Insurance Co. of Boston for 21 years and served as the Companies Vice President until retiring in 2005. He was a member and Deacon of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson and also served as the Chaplin for the Catholic Daughters of America and Saint Michael’s Men’s Club. He was a member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus in Shrewsbury.
Daniel, also fondly known as “Deacon Dan”, was very proud and honored when he was Ordained as a Deacon in the Catholic Faith in 2000. He most recently spent his time ministering to the Saint Michael’s Parish family. He touched many lives throughout his ministry and will be greatly missed. Daniel enjoyed golfing in his spare time but most of all he will be remembered as a devoted husband, caring father who always cherished the role as mentor in his children’s lives, loving grandpa to his 10 adoring grandchildren and “Deacon Dan” by the parish families he served.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children, Daniel F. Crimmins and his wife Marie McGuirk of South Carolina, Paul A. Crimmins and Susan C. Crimmins, both of Shrewsbury. He was predeceased by his daughter, Deborah Ann Crimmins. He is also survived by his sister, Bernadette Donahue of Kingston, his 10 grandchildren, Jonathan Tatro, Bryan, Shaun, Michael, Amanda, Kyle and Jordan Crimmins, Madison, Morgan and Michael-Ryan McGuirk along with his many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Oct. 30th at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours on Wednesday, Oct. 29th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749.
