Obituary

SALEM – BettyAnn (Davis) Whitmore, 82, wife of the late Harvey A. Whitmore, formerly of Hamilton, died Friday morning, October 24, 2014 at the Port Healthcare Center in Newburyport, following a short illness.

Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Bradford and Blanche (Martin) Davis. Following her graduation from high school, she attended the Whidden Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Everett.

Upon receiving her RN accreditation, BettyAnn began her nursing career in the E.R. at Cable Memorial Hospital in Ipswich. For most of her employment years, she worked for visiting nurse agencies in Essex County.

She resided in Hamilton for most of her life before moving to Salisbury in the late 1990’s. She treasured times cooking with her granddaughter, was an avid reader and loved the Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox.

BettyAnn is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mark L. and Mary P. Whitmore of Salisbury and with whom she resided, Jonathon M. Whitmore of Danvers, one granddaughter, Emily Davis Whitmore of Danvers, a brother and sister-in-law Everett and Phyllis Davis of Marion, one sister, Barbara Jean White of Dunedin, FL, two brothers-in-law, Bruce and Tina Whitmore of Weston and David Whitmore of Beverly and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Joan Hooper, daughter-in-law, Kimberly Dunbar Whitmore, sister-in-law, Ellen Manning (Whitmore) and step-mother, Gladys M. Davis.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2014 from 2 to 4 pm at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
