Obituary

Dartmouth –Arthur J. Caetano, age 86, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at his home in Dartmouth. He was the widower of Irene (Simmons) Caetano and the son of Mary P. (Ponte) and Joseph Caetano. He was born in New Bedford and, excluding his time in the military, lived all of his life in this area. Mr. Caetano worked at Saltmarsh’s for 32 years and also was employed as a Purchasing Agent for NBIS until his retirement.
Arthur was a Communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church where he served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister.
PhM3 Arthur J. Caetano proudly served our country in the US Navy during WWII.
His family includes 3 children: Paul J. Caetano and his wife, Erica, of Georgia, Jane F. McClelland of Charleston, SC and Mary Beth Laprise of New Bedford; 2 grandchildren: Mark Williams and Amy McClelland; sister in-law, Terry Silva; niece Marguerite Collins; as well as several nephews and godchildren.
Arthur was predeceased by 2 brothers.
The family of Mr. Caetano will like to send a special thanks to staff at Autumn Glen and to his special friends, Tom and Maria Rafferty.
Visitation for Mr. Caetano will take place in the funeral home on Monday morning from 8:00 – 10:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, Ma.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 230 Bonney St. New Bedford, Ma 02744.
