Obituary

Mr. Leo A. Hooben, of Taunton, died Wednesday, October 22 in the Life Care Center of Raynham following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Lois A. (Lovell) Hooben. He was born 84 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Martin and Antoinette (Dechene) Hooben. He was educated in Taunton and Dighton and had been a lifelong Taunton resident until relocating to Virginia in 1989. Leo returned to the area in 2010. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a carpenter for the Carpenters’ Union in Taunton for 30 years. Following retirement, Leo moved to Virginia and operated a cattle farm for 20 years. He also farmed for many years in Taunton. He enjoyed farming, hunting and his chickens.
He leaves: 3 sons: Leo Hooben of Falmouth, Lawrence Hooben of Raynham, and Lester “Toby” Hooben of Berkley; 4 daughters: Luanne Clark of Attleboro, Linda Raposa of Taunton, Laura Holmes of Lakeville, and Leslie Hooben of Taunton; 1 brother: Norman Hooben of Alabama; 1 sister: Irene Boivin of Taunton; 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Leo was also the brother of the late Richard Hooben, Marie Bonome, and Paul Hooben.
Funeral services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Life Care Center of Raynham Activities Fund, 546 South St., East, Raynham, Ma., 02767. Arrangements are under the direction of The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home of Taunton.
