Obituary

Donald F. White, 71, of Auburn, died Sunday, October 19th at Providence Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.
He was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, son of the late Robert A. and Helen (Lannon) White.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Mary Ann (Paladino) White of Auburn; his beloved daughter, Ashley (White) Jordan of Lexington, South Carolina; his favorite son in law, Jayson Jordan of Lexington, South Carolina; his loving nephews, Brian White of Spencer, Robert White of Auburn, John White of Northbridge and his sister in law, Lee Duprey of Dudley. His brother, Robert predeceased him in 2006.
Don was a graduate of South High School, Worcester. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Worcester State College, Worcester. He was a dedicated and beloved educator within the Southbridge public school system for 40 years. His students will fondly remember the annual 1950s celebration, where they dressed up in poodle skirts and saddle shoes and went head-to-head with other classrooms in hula hooping, singing, and twist competitions.
Don served in the Army Reserves for 6 years and was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Auburn.
Don was an avid sports fan and made sure to watch all of the New England teams. He was also a Clemson Tigers fan and loved to support his daughter’s alma mater. He enjoyed playing golf with his nephews and friends. Playing tennis with his daughter was one of his favorite pastimes.
He loved vacationing at Cape Cod and in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and lifelong friends, especially the Main South Legends. Don was a wonderful man with a witty sense of humor who could make anyone laugh. He was a man who truly adored his wife and daughter.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jerry Robinson and the staff at Providence Hospital for the outstanding care he received.
Friends and family are invited to a graveside ceremony, which will be held at St. John’s Cemetery in the Our Lady of Fatima section, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester on Saturday, October 25th at 11:00 AM. Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Hammond St. is directing arrangements.
The family requests that flowers be omitted. A fund has been set up to honor his memory. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the Donald White Memorial Fund, P.O. ¬Box 40, Auburn, MA 01501.
