New Bedford – Jose R. de Oliveira, age 89 of New Bedford, passed away on Tuesday October 21, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary Rego de Oliveira and the son of Julia (Simoes) and Andre de Oliveira. Born in Braga, Portugal, he immigrated to this country in 1960 and worked many years as a Printer for the Portuguese Times until his retirement.
His family includes 4 children: Julia Moniz and her husband Daniel, Lucia de Oliveira, Daniel de Oliveira and Teresa de Oliveira; 2 grandchildren: Eric and Jessalyn; as well as 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be Friday morning beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. and continuing with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will take place in the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 – 7 P.M.
