Anna C. (Hoar) Buckley, age 94, of Westwood, passed away peacefully, in the presence of her loving family, on Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Emmanuel House Residence in Brockton. She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Buckley, Sr. who died in 2006.
Born in Boston, MA on October 31, 1919, she was a loving daughter of the late Francis and Anna C. (Johnson) Hoar. She grew up in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston and was a 1939 graduate of Hyde Park High School.
Mrs. Buckley was a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, and when younger, had also worked for the Telephone Co.
Anna had made her home in Westwood for 46 years; where she was a communicant of St. Denis Church. Her hobbies included bowing, playing bingo and knitting; but her favorite times amongst far was spending time with her adoring family.
She is survived by her devoted children; William J. Buckley, Jr. and his wife Linda of East Bridgewater, Robert F. Buckley and his wife Patricia of Bridgewater, Ann K. Buckley of North Attleboro, Janice M. Blaney and her husband Sheldon of Dedham, Nancy M. Swiechowicz and her husband Steven of Seekonk and Matthew J. Buckley and his wife Lisa of Mansfield. She was pre-deceased by her 12 siblings, and is also survived by her loving 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday October 24th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, October 24th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Anna’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to St. Jude Children’ s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
