SOLA, Gaetano, (Guy) C. at age 98, of Framingham, formerly of Roslindale, Dedham and Walpole, MA passed away on October 19, 2014. He was the beloved husband for 63 years of the late Stella M. (Nuzzolo) Sola , also of Roslindale, and the beloved son of the late Antonio and Rosa (Leo) Sola. Guy was the devoted father of Anthony F. Sola and his wife, Donna of Naples, FL and Dedham, MA and Donna M. Pulcini and her husband, John of Sarasota, FL and Natick, MA. He was the loving grandfather of Anthony F. Sola, Jr. and wife Anne of Natick; Michael F. Sola and wife Geralyn of Cockeysville, MD; Richard F. Sola and wife Kim of Walpole; Timothy F. Sola of Los Angeles, CA; Robert A. Pulcini of Issaquah, WA and Jonathan M. Pulcini and wife Aimee of Sammamish, WA; Pamela M. Lattanzio of Fishkill, NY; Diana L. Pulcini of Natick, MA; Andrea J. Camacho of Powder Springs, GA and Susan E. Trotta of Westford, MA. Guy leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly: Michael, Matthew, Christopher, Ryan, Meghan, Emily and Kelly Sola; Gabriella, Isabella, Cristian, Emilia and Giovanni Pulcini; Michael, Christopher and Victoria Lattanzio; Francesca and Joseph Camacho and Matthew Trotta. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews, among whom, his loving niece , Carole Anne Scott of Canton held a special bond and place in his heart for her kindness, affection and extraordinary care, most especially in his senior years. Guy was raised in Boston’s North End until his immediate and extended family established itself in the Roslindale section of Boston. He was predeceased by his brother Albert C. Sola of Canton, and sisters Antonette Pedicini, Maria Sola, Concetta Cappuccio and Ersilia Capone, all of Roslindale. Born in Boston, MA, the son of immigrant parents from Italy, Guy completed his early education in 1934 at Boston English High School before moving on to graduate from Bentley School of Accounting, class of 1938. He entered the accounting profession and spent a career in the practice as a Public Accountant until his retirement. He had a remarkable and unmatched skill and passion for golf, a sport at which he excelled. He spent many hours on the links in the Boston area and Sarasota through age 93 with his friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed bowling, watching football and baseball, and, like a true Bostonian, the thrills and frequent frustrations afforded by the Red Sox. But above all, he was a great dancer, enjoying every second on the floor with his sweetheart, Stella, in many Boston area ballrooms. Guy was a devout Roman Catholic with a great admiration and respect for the faith, its Church and its traditions. Guy was a member of the Sons of Italy, the Roslindale Social and Athletic Club, the Dedham Seniors Club (Young-at-Hearts), and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM, Friday, Oct. 24 at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John Chrysostom Church, 4750 Washington Street, West Roxbury at 10:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Thursday 3:00-7:00pm Interment in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston.
