Obituary

TAUNTON – Francis J. “Buddy” Prado, husband of Elsie (Marshall) Costa Prado of Taunton, died at Morton Hospital on Oct. 18, 2014.
He was 92.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Ellen V. (Brady) Prado.
Educated in area schools, he was a graduate of Bristol County Agricultural High School.
Buddy served in the U.S. Navy during WW II stationed on the USS Massachusetts, where he manned the 16 inch guns and was engaged in numerous battles off Japanese and European waters.
He later served in the Army Reserves and was employed as a custodian in the Taunton school system.
He participated in the construction of Attleboro’s LaSalette Shrine, where he spent many hours volunteering in the years that followed.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Taunton, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and VFW.
In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and yard work.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three sons, Scott F. Prado of Manchester, NH, Paul A. Prado of Kingwood, TX and Joseph P. Prado of Taunton; two daughters, Maria P. Price of Taunton and Laurie A. Prado of New Bedford; a stepson, Ronald J. Costa of Taunton; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Richard Prado, Natalie Fitzgerald, Roberta Otiz, Lois Pine, Patricia Coe and Beverly Silva.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday, Oct. 22nd at 9 a.m. a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Oct. 21st from 5 to 8 p.m.
