Maria Evangelina Mendes, age 80, of Fall River passed away surrounded by her loving family at St. Anne’s Hospital on October 16th. Born in São Miguel, Açores she was the loving wife of Albilio Mendes and daughter of the late Jose and Maria (Cabral) Carreiro. She was a parishioner of Santo Christo Church.
Maria was the loving mother of Paul Mendes of Fall River; sister of Maria Sousa, Antonio Carreiro and Dennis Carreiro all of Fall River. She also leaves behind 4 close goddaughters and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Manuel Carreiro.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on TUESDAY here at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial Santo Christo Church at 10:30 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours on MONDAY from 4-8 P.M. www.rogersfuneral.com.
