Josephine (Chiero) McNeil, age 97, of Duxbury, died on Monday, October 13, 2014, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center West Campus, in Boston.
Josephine was a resident of Duxbury and communicant of Holy Family Church and Miramar in Duxbury. She was named valedictorian of her class at Bedford Hills High School in Bedford Hills, New York. During World War II, she worked for General Electric, followed by SIGMA in Braintree, MA where she was an electronics technician in charge of street light control repairs. She also worked as a retail sales clerk for CVS in Duxbury.
She is survived by her devoted longtime friend and companion, Charles G. Brady; her son, John J. McNeil of Tennessee and Rhode Island; a sister, Rose Marie O'Brien of Norwichtown, CT; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Her family would like to acknowledge the wonderful services provided by her caregivers. Their kindness, gentleness and companionship are very much appreciated.
A visitation period will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main Street, (Route 106), Kingston, on Friday, October 17, 2014, from 9:30-10:30 AM, followed by her funeral Mass at the Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont Street, Duxbury, at 11:00 AM.
Interment will be at the Mayflower Cemetery, 774 Tremont Street, Duxbury.
