Mary (Perry) Tavares, of Plymouth died October 13, 2014 at the Golden Living Center at the age of 101. She is the wife of the late Antone Tavares. Loving mother of David Tavares and his wife Jackie of Plymouth and Robert Tavares and his wife Lillian of Plymouth. She leaves 2 living sisters Dorothy (Perry) Vacca and Lois (Perry) Miranda of Plymouth. She is the cherished grandmother of Lauren McCracken of Burlington Ontario, Canada, Kara O’Rourke of Derry, NH, Richard Tavares of Plymouth and Robby Tavares of Plymouth. Great grandmother to Brett and Jana McCracken, Madie, Harry, and Austin Tavares of Plymouth Nichols Tavares and Adam Tavares both of Maine and great great grandmother of Kyra Tavares.
Born in St. Michael, Portugal she was one of ten children and came to the United States when she was 3 years old. She became a U.S. Citizen on September 24, 1943. As a young girl Mary learned to play the piano and later enjoyed playing the organ. She loved to crochet and made many afghans, baby robes, and blankets for his family and friends.
Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home 373 Court St. (Rte 3A) N. Plymouth on Thursday October 16, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday October 17 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Vine Hills Cemetery Plymouth, MA. In lieu of flowers donations in Mary’s memory may be made to Asera Care Hospice, 40 Washington St. Wellesley, MA 02481, or Golden Living Center 19 Obery St., Plymouth, MA02360 or a charity of ones’ choice.
