Margaret L. (Quigley) McKanas, 90, of Lynn, died Sunday, Oct. 12 at Union Hospital Lynn.
Born in Lynn, the daughter of the late James and Mary (Brown) Quigley. Beloved wife of the late Alfred B. McKanas. Raised and educated in Lynn, a graduate of Lynn Classical High School.
She had worked as a lunch aide for the Drewicz School in Lynn for 10 years, and as a devoted homemaker.
She was an avid Bingo player and a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Chapter 56 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be deeply missed.
Margaret is survived by her children, John J. McKanas and his wife Phyllis of Dudley, Edward A. McKanas and his wife Cindy of Lynn, Alfred B. McKanas Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Middleton, Michael J. McKanas and his wife Cheryl of Melrose, Richard A. McKanas and his wife Leona of Saugus, William T. McKanas of Lynn, Patricia A. Pierga and her husband Richard of Ocala, Fla., Mary T. Perry and her husband Dave of Saugus, Sandra J. Marston and her husband James of Lynn; 26 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two nephews. She predeceased by her sister Mary McGarry and grandson Dave Perry II.
Service information: Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral Thursday, Oct. 16 at 9:30 a.m. in the NADWORNY Funeral Home, 798 Western Ave., Lynn followed by her Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Boston Street. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. P.L.A.V.A. Ladies Auxiliary Chapter 56 will meet at 4:30 p.m.
