Obituary

TAUNTON – Joseph Cambra, husband of Natalie (Rogers) Cambra, died at his Taunton home on Oct. 12, 2014.
He was 84.
Born in Berkley, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Gallego) Cambra.
Mr. Cambra was raised in Berkley and was a graduate of Dighton High School.
He later earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Bridgewater State College.
An Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served as an honor guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
For many years he taught Science at the Blue Hills Regional High School, retiring in 1985.
After retirement, he taught Genealogy at Bristol-Plymouth Regional High School.
A communicant of Annunciation of The Lord Church, and recipient of the Marian Medal Award, in his spare time Mr. Cambra enjoyed woodcarving.
He was a member of the Coimbra Club.
In addition to his wife, he leaves five brothers, Anthony Cambra and his wife Irene of FL, George Cambra of Taunton, Daniel Cambra and his wife Marta of VT, Alfred Cambra and his wife Nancy of Taunton, and William Cambra of Berkley; three sisters, Rosemary Mount and her husband Richard of Berkley, Nancy Van Nostrand and her husband Robert of FL, and Helena Silva and her husband George of Berkley; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also the brother of the late John Cambra.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, Oct. 16th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Oct. 15th from 5 to 8 p.m.
