Obituary

Augusta, GA – Mr. William James Thompson entered into rest on Monday, October 13, 2014. He was born on February 2, 1956 in Macon, Georgia and is preceded in death by his mother Mildred Ann Payne Thompson.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 in Westover Memorial Park with Rev. H. Grady Mosley, II officiating.

Jim was a 1974 graduate of Westside High School in Augusta, GA, and attended Augusta College. He was a long-time employee of Friedman’s Jewelers and later did custom design work for Windsor Jewelers. Jim also was later able to put his creativity to work as a graphic designer for Streeter Printing. In addition to being a talented musician and published writer of short stories, Jim held a lifelong passion for music and books.

In addition to his father, William Warren Thompson, Jim is survived by a daughter, Rowan Lindsay Thompson, who was the joy of his life; a brother, Alan Warren Thompson (Teresa); two nephews, Andrew Payne Thompson and Robert Warren Thompson; and many more close friends and loving family members.

Pallbearers will be Cliff Gardiner, Skip Hulett, Greg Hunter, Payne Thompson, Rob Thompson, and Alan Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Phill Flanders and Mitch Flanders.

Those wishing to make a charitable contribution in Jim’s memory are invited to donate to the American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Boulevard, Augusta, GA, 30909.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from 3:00 until 3:45.
