Obituary

Paul Collins of Andover died peacefully in his sleep at home on October 10, 2014 at age 95. Mr. Collins is survived by his five children: Ann Collins; Paul Collins; Karen Jalkut; Kevin Collins; Justine Stedman, and five grandchildren. Mr. Collins, the eldest of eight siblings, also is survived by his three sisters: Everilda Barry; Dodie Gemmell, and Patsy Kornachuk. Mr. Collins was predeceased by his wife of 42 years ,Genevieve M. Collins ( Regan) and his siblings: Arthur Collins; William Collins; Justin Collins, and Juliana Collins. Mr. Collins was born in Andover and spent his youth there. Mr. Collins proudly served this country in the U.S. Army during WW II in Europe in a mechanized division commanded by Gen. George Patton. Mr. Collins returned home from the war and owned/operated the Morrissey Taxi Service in Andover for more than 40 years. He also worked closely with the Breen Family at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. since 1944. Mr. Collins was a member of the Vesper Country Club throughout his adult life and he achieved considerable success locally as an accomplished golfer. Mr. Collins won the 1953 Club Championship at Vesper among his many other titles. Mr. Collins was proud of his service to this country and proud of his family. He and many others of his generation made this world a safer and better place.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, October 15th, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack Street, North Andover, MA. His funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. following the wake in Saint Augustine's Church in Andover, MA. Burial will follow in Saint Augustine's Cemetery in Andover, MA.
