Obituary

Northborough - Muriel B. (Pyche) Schedin, 84, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Northborough surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of over 30 years, Eric Harley Schedin, predeceased her in 1984. Muriel leaves 2 sons, Glenn Schedin of Northborough and Scott and his wife Jessica Schedin of Shrewsbury; a daughter, Lynne and her husband Thomas Zastawny of Grafton; a daughter-in-law Cheryl Schedin of Lynnfield (wife of Muriel's son, the late Kenneth Schedin); 4 grandchildren, Trevor Zastawny, Steven and Daniel Schedin, and Joshua Wilson; 2 brothers, Clayton Pyche of MN and Roland Pyche Jr. of West Boylston; a sister, Betty Forsell of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Chamberlain.

Muriel was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Roland and Bertha (Sieswerda) Pyche. She graduated from Commerce High School and worked for independent insurance agents for over 40 years and for various realtors for over 10 years. She was a long-time, active member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Worcester where she was a Sunday School teacher, past chairperson of various church committees and former financial secretary. She was a member of the Quinsigamond Lodge # 517 of the Vasa Order of America where she served as the past chairman and treasurer. Muriel also formerly served as Treasurer and District Master of Vasa Massachusetts District Lodge #2. She enjoyed baking Swedish pastries, reading, traveling, visiting her home on Cape Cod, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 17, at 11:00 am, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 64 Salisbury St. Worcester, MA 01609. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery Worcester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Muriel's memory may be made to the Memorial Fund at Epworth United Methodist Church. Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester is directing arrangements.
