Obituary

Mr. Robert E. Proulx, of Taunton, died Saturday, October 11 in Morton Hospital following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Bernice E. “Bunny” (McCurdy) Proulx. He was born 89 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Phillip and Leona (Doucette) Proulx. He was educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, Bob had been employed as a machinist for the Automatic Machine Company in Attleboro for 35 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 756th Tank Battalion, and saw action in Northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes, and Central Europe. Bob was a member of the former Holy Name Society and was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Parish in Taunton. He enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling, and playing cards.
In addition to his wife, he leaves: 1 daughter: Linda Sands and her husband, John of Taunton; 1 brother: Roger Proulx of Taunton; 3 grandchildren: Kristen Sands of Charlestown, and Peter and Lisa Sands, both of Taunton, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Arthur Proulx of Taunton.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Wednesday, October 15, at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in Cedar Knoll Cemetery, East Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
