Ruth J. Hitt
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Wednesday, October 08, 2014, Ruth J. Hitt, 89, wife of the late Thomas W. “Tom” Hitt.
Mrs. Hitt was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta, GA. She was an Alumni of Tubman Girls School. Mrs. Hitt was a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. She was employed at Oliver General, the Richmond County Tax office and assisted her husband with his real-estate ventures. Mrs. Hitt was a Pink Lady with St. Joseph Hospital for over 25 years. Her family was her passion, especially her 6 grandchildren.
Family members include: sons: Thomas W. “Wayne” Hitt, Jr. and wife Linda of Grovetown, the late David William Hitt and his surviving wife Susan of Dearing, Bruce Alan Hitt and wife Cathie of Hephzibah; daughter: Beverly A. Freeman of Martinez; grandchildren: Tommy Hitt (Jackie), Kristin Ryan (Matthew), Amy Smith (Keith), Alan Hitt (Kandice), Patrick Hitt (Lindsey Guilfoyle) and D.J. Hitt (Lauren Hansen); and 7 great grandchildren.
A graveside memorial service will be Monday, October 13, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Sweetwater Baptist Church Cemetery in North Augusta, SC with Fr. John Markham officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Hitt, Alan Hitt, Patrick Hitt, DJ Hitt, Matthew Ryan, and Keith Smith.
Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities at 811 12th Street, Augusta, GA 30901 or to the Trinity Hospital Pink Ladies Auxiliary at 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904.
