Obituary

Carol A. Harootian, 72, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center- University Campus after an illness. She leaves a brother Simon G. " George" Harootian, Jr. and his wife Roberta of Worcester; 2 nephews- Simon G. Harootian III and his wife Susan of RI and Mark Harootian and his wife Sara DeRosa of Hong Kong; a niece- Danielle Harootian of Worcester; and 2 grand nephews- Gavin and Zachary Harootian.

Carol was born in Worcester daughter of the late Dr. Simon G. Harootian , DMD and Margaret (Ansbigian) Harootian. She graduated from Classical High School, earned a bachelors degree from the MA College of Art in Boston, and earned a Masters Degree from Assumption College. She worked as an art and computer science teacher for the Worcester School Department for many years, retiring from Burncoat Sr. High School in 2002. She was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, and the Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed traveling.

Calling hours at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. A Dahngark Service will be held at 6 p.m. during calling hours. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Armenian Church of Our Saviour 87 Salisbury St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's memory may be made to the Armenian Church of Our Saviour 87 Salisbury St. Worcester, MA 01609 or the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
