Obituary

TAUNTON – Ruth Mae (Comeau) Sproul, 88, died at the Taunton Nursing Home surrounded by her family on Oct. 3, 2014.
Born in Lynn, the daughter of the late Charles and Nellie (Comeau) Comeau, she was a longtime Taunton area resident, and was a 1944 graduate of Taunton High School.
Mrs. Sproul worked as an MHA at the former Paul A. Dever School for many years, before retiring in 1991, and was also employed as a home health care aid for a number of years.
A life member and past president of Taunton’s VFW, Post 611, Women’s Auxiliary, she was also a life member and past president of the Military Order of Cooties Auxiliary of Brockton.
In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed crafts, crocheting, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include five sons, Robert Sproul and his wife Joan and John Sproul and his companion Brenda, all of Florida, Joseph Sproul and his wife Linda, Peter Sproul, and Michael Sproul and his wife Val, all of Taunton; a daughter, Theresa McDermott and her husband Michael of Taunton; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.
She was also the mother of the late Catherine Sproul, and former wife of the late Arthur F. Sproul.
Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Wednesday Oct. 8th at 7:30 p.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend, and may call on the family from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. prior to the services.
