New Bedford – Maria A. Costa, age 71 of New Bedford, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at her home in New Bedford. She was the loving wife of 48 years to Henrique A. Costa and the daughter of Amelia and Silvino Guedes.
Mrs. Costa was born in Chaves, Portugal, moved to Angola in 1966 where she worked as a Teacher’s Aide and also did embroidery work, returning to Portugal in 1975 before settling in this country in 1978 and worked as a Stitcher until her retirement.
In her leisure time, Maria enjoyed crocheting.
She is survived by her husband, Henrique, of New Bedford; 3 children: Helena Teixeira and her husband, Carlos, and twin sons: Nuno and Pedro Costa, all residing in New Bedford; 3 grandchildren: Joshua, Joseph, Jonathon; as well as 2 siblings: Maria Jose and Rosalina, both living in Portugal.
Mrs. Costa was predeceased by several other siblings.
Visitation with her cremated remains present will take place in the funeral home on Monday, Oct 13 from 5 - 7 P.M. with a Religious Service to take place at 5:00 P.M. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford, Ma.
