Mr. Hussey was born August 22, 1919, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Edward Lambert Hussey and Cora Ellen Nye, one of Fitzgerald’s pioneer families. Lee graduated from Fitzgerald High School and worked for a short time for the ABC railroad before relocating to Dallas, Texas to attend photography school and also business school. In 1942, he was inducted into the U.S Navy where he served for almost four years as a pharmacist mate in the South Pacific as well as in New Zealand. While in New Zealand, he made many friends with whom he would enjoy a lifetime relationship, visiting back and forth for most of his life. In 1946, he was honorably discharged from the Navy and again attended photography school in Los Angeles, California. This was to become his career. He enjoyed his time spent in freelance work. He also did portraits. After that, he became involved in Hollywood and spent years working for the director George Cukon, who directed many movies that we are all familiar with. He spent time in Spain photographing the country as well as many monuments. Lee loved to travel, which he did, every opportunity that came along. He visited many of his friends as well as his four brothers and sister, all in different states. He also enjoyed camping, nature and the outdoors. Late in life he took up painting, mostly oils, and belonged to a group in Oregon that painted beautiful scenery. Many of the family are fortunate to own some of his work.
