Maria do Rosario (Botelho) Silva, age 82, of Fall River, passed on Thurs., Oct. 2nd. She was the wife of the late Noe F. DaSilva and daughter of the late Manuel, and Maria Conceicao (da Costa) Medeiros Botelho.
Born in Fenais da Luz, St. Michael, Azores. She lived in Fall River for the past 51 years. She enjoyed people watching, listening to the radio, sewing, embroidery, caring for her vegetable garden, spending time with her beloved family. Her curiosity of everything kept her mind alive and interesting and was always fun to hear her tell her tidbits of her day. Maria kept busy with her daily routine, never wanting help, always saying “I can do it myself.” Maria retired from the garment industry as a machine operator of various companies.
She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a woman of faith of God, praying daily for her life and for those she loved and peace for in the world. She was a member of her beloved Saint Michael’s Church in Fall River. We will always remember her unique way of storytelling with her funny facial expressions which made us all laugh. She lived a simple life. She realized her hard work and didn’t want to spend it away and was proud of handling her own support.
She is survived her children: Noe Silva, his wife Goretti of Westport, Bertha Gonsalves, her husband Joseph of Somerset, and Cecelia Oliveira, her husband John of Swansea, three grandchildren: Nancy Michaels, Jason Gonsalves , and Andrew Oliveira, three great-granddaughters: Isabel Michaels , Gianna Gonsalves, Adriana Oliveira and several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Antonio Botelho, and Maria Conceicao Alberto.
Her funeral will take place from MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on MONDAY at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian burial in St. Michael’s Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment services in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
