Obituary

Paul J. Curran,
Of Canton, died Thursday, October 2, 2014, at the Brigham and Woman’s Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. He was 81.

The son of the late James J. and Gertrude M. (Healy) Curran, he was born in Norwood and raised and educated in Canton where he had been a lifelong resident.

Mr. Curran was a retired mechanical engineer who started as a draftsman at Emerson Cumming. After his retirement from the Grace Corporation, he went on to found and serve as President of his own firm, Microsorb Technologies in Bellingham.

A veteran of the Army, he served during the Korean War as a Specialist 3rd Class receiving the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal.

Mr. Curran enjoyed traveling to Ireland, listening to Jazz music and playing golf.

He was predeceased in 1997 by his wife, Lorraine (Moss) Curran and was the brother of the late James E., Robert W. and Reverend William H. Curran.

Mr. Curran is survived by his son, Jeffrey M. Curran and his wife, Cathy-Joh of Canton, his daughter, Lisa L. McPhilemy of No. Easton, his son in law, Martin McPhilemy of Canton and his sister, Anne M. Gauthier of No. Andover. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Celebration of Paul's Life at 10:30 a.m. Monday morning at Saint John the Evangelist Church, Canton. Interment with honors will follow at the Canton Corner Cemetery. Paul’s family will welcome guests at the Roache-Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, Canton, on Sunday from 3-7 p.m.

Those who wish may make donations in his memory to the Canton Council on Aging, 660 Washington Street, Canton, MA 02021.
