Obituary

NATICK: Michael Edward Deneen, fondly known as “Uncle Mike”, age 77, a former Ashland resident, died peacefully late Wednesday night, on October 1, 2014, at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Natick. He was the devoted husband of the late Audrey (Mylon) Deneen for 43 years.

Born in Boston, and raised and educated in Somerville, he was a son of the late Arthur and Mary (Pero) Deneen. He started work as a machinist while still in school, and he and Audrey were married in 1957.

Mike and Audrey settled in Natick in 1963, and he became employed with Light Metal Platers in Waltham. When their family was grown, they moved to Ashland. In 1992, Mike started his own company, Absolute Metal Finishing, with his son Michael Jr., in Norwood. The two worked together until Mike’s retirement in 2001, shortly after Audrey’s death. Mike then spent his time between Falmouth and Flagler Beach, Florida.

Uncle Mike loved his home and family and thoroughly enjoyed the roles of “Gampa” and “Papa” to his six grandchildren. A beachgoer and fisherman, he was also a dedicated Patriots fan.

He is survived by his daughter, Diane MacLeod and husband Wayne of Ashland; his son, Michael Deneen, Jr. and wife Carolyn of Natick; grandchildren Caitlin, Deana, Meghan, Ryan, Kevin, and Jenna; a sister, Kathleen Hughes; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Carol MacLeod, Arthur Deneen, Jr., Richard Deneen, and Mary Callaghan.

His Funeral Services will be in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Monday, Oct. 6th at 11:30AM. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery, Ashland.

Visiting hours are on Sunday, 2 – 5P.M. Donations may be made in Mike’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or at www.alz.org.
