Obituary

Singer, Josephine (Fisk) Of Arlington, Mass., formerly of Boston, passed away on October 1, 2014 at Mount Auburn Hospital, at the age of 86. Born in Boston, and raised in Cambridge and Rockport, Mass., she studied opera in New York and performed onstage in Italy and in Boston. Her performances included productions by the Opera Company of Boston and a solo recital at the Gardner Museum. Her article, "Fanny and the Beatitudes" was published online by the Jane Austen Society of North America in 2007. She graduated from Cambridge School of Weston and Radcliffe College, Class of 1949. She was a loving mother to Anne, Margaret, Emily and Ben, grandmother to four grandchildren, and a beloved aunt. She was married to Irving Singer, with whom she collaborated on many books. She is predeceased by her brother, Charles Brenton Fisk. She is the daughter of the late Brenton Kern Fisk and Amelia Worthington Fisk. Josephine ("Josie") was a gracious, generous, and kind person, whose beautiful spirit will be deeply missed.
