Obituary

HOPKINTON: Sheila M. (Rice) Babcock, age 82, died peacefully at Medway Country Manor on Friday evening, September 26, 2014.

Born and raised in Natick, she was a daughter of the late Arthur W. and Josephine (Sweeney) Rice. Sheila was a graduate of St. Patrick’s School in Natick and Our Lady’s High School in Nonantum. She continued her education at Northeastern University.

Sheila married and made a home for her family in Natick. A lady who enjoyed variety, Sheila was employed for over thirty years as a secretary with area temp agencies. She had a lifelong penchant for learning, enjoyed meeting new people, was ever open to stimulating conversation, loved to read, and was known for her sense of humor. After many years in Marlborough and Southborough, Sheila settled in Hopkinton in 2008.

Mother of Gary P. Babcock of Pawtucket, RI, and Mark J. Babcock of Southborough, and Lisa M. Buchanan of Framingham, and grandmother of Gregory, Rebecca, Samantha, and Lynette; she was also the sister of the late Catherine Hall-Koulalis, Arthur C. Rice, M. Virginia Rice, Eleanor Rice, and Joal Duffy.

Memorial visiting hours will be held at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, on Saturday, October 4th beginning at 1:00p.m. with a funeral service at 2:30p.m. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sheila’s memory to the Baypath Humane Society, 5 Rafferty Road, Hopkinton, MA 01748.
