Barbara Thompson age 85 of Canton passed away September 28th at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Somerville, she was raised in Hyde Park and graduated from Hyde Park High School. She has live in Canton since 1963 and was an active parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Church where she was a member of the Legion of Mary, Canton Catholic Women’s Club and was a Eucharistic Minister who would give communion for those confined to their house. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and loved shopping, the beach and spending summers at her house in Little Harbor in Wareham. Beloved wife of the late Clifton S. Mother of Ann Krowchun and her husband John of Franklin, Marie Collins and her husband John of Canton, Clifton Thompson and his wife Carey of Scituate, Mark Thompson and his wife Cynthia of Groton, Barbara Stratton of Plymouth, William Thompson and his wife Denise of Plymouth and the late Jeanne Gomer. Barbara also raised her granddaughter Michele Sharpe (Doody) who lives in Plainville with her husband John. Sister of Eleanor Sweeney of Walpole, Ruth Spengler of Dedham, and the late William Kobs, Doris Foley, and Ann Cummings. Sister in law of Gloria Kobs of AZ. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Wednesday 4-8 pm. Funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church Canton Thursday morning at 10:30. Burial St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton. Donations may be made in her memory to St. John the Evangelist Church 700 Washington St. Canton, MA 02021.
