Joan L. MacPhee (Johnston) age 84 passed away September 27th surrounded by her loving family. Joan was born and raised in Jamaica Plain, and after graduation from St. Thomas Aquinas High School, started a career as a secretary. Much of her employment was with the Boston Public Schools. Joan leaves a legacy of faith, loyalty and laughter for her family and friends. She enjoyed music and singing, especially Irish music, dancing, candlepin bowling, high “fashion” and most importantly, her family. She lived for more than 40 years in Canton, where she raised her family and was active in the Canton Catholic Women’s organization. The family would like to thank the staffs of both Sunrise Assisted Living in Norwood and Atria Marland Place in Andover for the kind and gentle care provided to Joan over the last four years. Beloved daughter of the late Donald and Nora Louise (Walsh) Johnston and loving wife of the late Charles M. MacPhee. Joan was also predeceased by her dear sister, Kathleen “Kay” Snyder. She leaves her two adoring sons, Timothy M. and his wife Patricia, of North Andover, and Brian P. of Brunswick, GA. Special Nana to Gregory, Kevin and Colleen, all of North Andover. Loving sister-in-law to Helen Richards of Norton, and Ann Flueckiger of Needham, and cherished Auntie Joanie to many nieces and nephews in both Mass and Florida. Joan also leaves her long-time close friend Doris O’Connor of Canton Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Sunday 3-7 pm. Funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church Canton Monday morning at 10:30. Burial St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Assn 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472 or the Special Olympics of Massachusetts 512 Forest St. Marlborough, MA 01752. | |||||
