Obituary

Winifred E. "Winnie" (Benoit) Anthony, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a lengthy illness. She was 75 years old.

Winnie was born in Boston on August 6, 1939, a daughter of the late Henry Benoit and Mary (Boyle) Benoit. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1957. Winnie held several jobs in her lifetime as a housekeeper for several years at Regina Cleri in Boston a retirement home for Catholic Priests and as a receptionist at the North End Spaulding Rehabilitation Center in Boston. She enjoyed traveling to Mohegan Sun whenever the opportunity arose but most of all she cherished her family and the quality times she was able to spend with each one of them especially at Sunday dinners in her home.

Winnie is the adored wife of 55 years to retired Boston Firefighter Joseph W. Anthony. She is the devoted mother of Denise Buckley and her husband Rob of Malden, Michael Anthony and his wife Michelle of Hamilton, Paul Anthony and his wife Laurel of Stoneham and Lynn Anthony and her companion Michael of East Boston. She is the loving Grandmother to Sean, Joseph, Shealyn, Alice, Alana, Mairi, Aiden and Michael. She is the beloved sister of William Benoit of Florida, Paul Benoit of Maryland, Jerry Benoit of Charlestown, Cece Emerson of Charlestown and the late Pauline Davis. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Winnie's Funeral on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Monday, September 29, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
