Obituary

Robert J. Norman of Natick died on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at his home. Born in Natick on March 4, 1928, he was the son of the late William J. Sr. and Esther A. (Reid) Norman.

He was raised in Natick and attended Natick Public Schools. During the Korean War, he served our country proudly as a Sergeant in the United States Army (24th Division, 52nd Field Artillery, Charley Battery).

He was a life member of the American Legion, VFW and the Amvets organizations. For over twenty years, he worked for Local 475 as a carpenter, supervising the expansion of Stop and Shop stores.

Bob was a man of many talents. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed deer hunting and fishing in all seasons. He was a member of the Hopkinton Sportsmen's Association. Bob loved his garden and sharing its bounty. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at the boat ramp at the Lake Cochituate State Park.

Husband of the late Frances A. (Branagan) Norman. Father of Sherry Norman and her husband Rich Dankel of Plainville, Robert J. “Rocky” Norman, Jr. of AZ, Kristen G. Norman of Edgartown and S. Vincent Norman and his wife Julie of Shrewsbury.

Grandfather of Anna and Bo Dankel of Plainville, Kiana Casey of Edgartown and Cameron and Erica Norman of Shrewsbury. Brother of Frances Cody of Natick and the late William J. Norman, Jr. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., at Natick Common on Monday, September 29th at 10:00AM, followed by burial in Dell Park Cemetery Natick with Military Honors.

Visiting hours Sunday, September 28th from 2:00-5:00PM. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to a veterans' organization of the donor's choosing.
