Obituary

Cora (DeCambra) Silvia, age 100, which was celebrated on March 8, 2014 with family & friends, passed peacefully surrounded by her family at Clifton Nursing home in Somerset, MA on Sep. 21, 2014. Born in Somerset, MA, she was the eldest daughter of the late Mary & Antone DeCambra. Wife of the late Antone R. Silvia, mother of Thomas Silvia, companion Karen Ponte & William Silvia, wife Karen P. of Swansea and the late Joseph Silvia. She is survived by her brother Lawrence DeCambra & his wife Joan of Somerset, who was like her daughter & took very good care of her, Constance(DeCambra) Haese of San Antonio, TX. Sister of the late Rena (DeCambra) Souza, Hilda (DeCambra) Hartnett, Christine (DeCambra) Alonso, Anthony, Daniel, Eugene, Francis, and John DeCambra. She was the beloved grandmother to nine, Linda (Silvia) Gadbois and Thomas Silvia of Swansea, Paula (Silvia) Bobola of Dartmouth, Pamela (Silvia ) Scrivo, Joseph Silvia of Middleboro, Anne (Silvia) Kleinert of Boca Raton Fl, Cheryl (Silvia) Duarte of Somerset and Brian Silvia of Holbrook; great grandmother to nineteen, and great-great grandmother to five, and many nieces & nephews.

Mrs. Silvia and her husband owned & operated Silvia Farm in Swansea. She retired from the Dighton Nursing home at the age of 72. As a member of St. John of God Church, she taught CCD for 42 years.

She took time to smell the flowers & listen to the birds as she lovingly tended her gardens & walked in the woods. She canned vegetables & made jams for family and friends. She enjoyed crafting and furniture refinishing. She was cherished as the family matriarch. The family would like to extend a heart felt thank you to Clifton Nursing Home for their professionalism and the high standards of care given to their loved one.

Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on THURSDAY at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset.
