Albert L. ‘Blue’ Tremblay, 95 of Peabody, passed away unexpectedly at his home Saturday, September 20, 2014. He was the devoted husband of the late Doris M. (LeClerc) Tremblay with whom he had shared 52 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem he was the son of the late Hugh and Marie Anne (Bouchard) Tremblay. A veteran of World War II, he served with the Army in the South Pacific as a cook with the 29th General Hospital Medical Detachment. Following the war, he returned to Salem working, as a meat cutter, at several of the local First National Stores. He later worked in the same capacity for North Shore Market and Economart in North Salem. Al retired from Henry’s of North Beverly.
As a young man, Al played baseball for one of the Salem baseball leagues and was given the nick name ‘Blue.’ Al maintained his love of the game and the Red Sox throughout his entire life. He was devoted to his family, and he enjoyed doing household projects with fastidious care.
He is survived by his son Paul A. Tremblay and son-in-law Declan M. Cook both of Peabody in addition to several nieces and nephews including Rachel Farley and her husband Jim of Peabody. He was predeceased by his brothers, Rene and Raymond Tremblay and sisters, Marie Theriault, Jeannette L’Heureux, Eva Robinson and Lena Moran.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St, [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 8:45 A.M. to be followed by his funeral mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 260 North St. [Rt. 114] on the Salem / Peabody line at 10:00 A.M.
